Internet Payment Gateways

A Gateway (or Payment Gateway) authorizes a transaction over the internet. It acts like a bridge, taking the place of a card swiper for online (keyed) transactions. It receives the encrypted transaction from a website, authenticates the merchant, decrypts the payment information, and send the transaction data to the merchant account for settlement.
